Telegram lister: from photos to an eBay listing

A listing workflow that starts with the photos and notes I send from my phone.

Start where the item is

The Telegram lister starts with an item’s photos, storage location, and notes. Instead of re-entering the same information at every step, the workflow keeps it attached to a listing job. It complements the eBay Tracker: the lister gets an item toward publication, while the tracker follows sales, costs, and shipping.

Turn a conversation into a job

Photos sent as a Telegram album are grouped together. The caption is parsed for the storage location used as the listing SKU. If the location is missing, the bot asks for it and can attach a follow-up reply to the waiting job.

Processed messages are recorded so a restart does not simply turn the same incoming message into a second job. That is a workflow safeguard, not a claim that duplicate listings can never occur.

Prepare the listing details

The drafting step uses the photos and notes to prepare an eBay title, description, category, condition, item specifics, and suggested price. Condition notes supplied with the item give the draft important context about defects, wear, or missing parts.

This is AI-assisted preparation. The output still needs judgment, especially when identification or pricing is uncertain. A suggested price is not a verified market valuation.

Publish, or stop for attention

The workflow supports posting listings to eBay and sending status replies through Telegram. Items flagged for review and failed jobs are kept in a review queue. The implementation includes checks intended to hold potentially valuable or unusual items for attention rather than treating every draft as routine.

Those checks are useful guardrails, but they do not replace examining an item or reviewing a draft. When something is ambiguous, the right next step is to inspect it.

Two tools, one resale workflow

The lister is written in Python and uses Telegram for intake and replies. The tracker is a separate native Rust desktop app. They tackle different parts of the same job: turning an item into a listing, then understanding the costs and outcomes around the sale.
